On 7/27/2021, the Magnolia Rotary Club presented Grant Ebel (2021 High School Valedictorian) a $1,000 scholarship to the University of Texas at Austin. Pictured above from left to right are Grant Ebel and Hope Moye (Immediate Past President of the Magnolia Rotary Club).

Kelly McDonald (President of the Magnolia Rotary Club) read Grant Ebel's scholarship application letter to the membership where Grant explained a little bit about his upbringing and his desire to become a medical doctor some day. Grant will be going to the University of Texas at Austin where he plans on studying Biology or Biomedical Engineering with hopes of going to a medical school after completing his undergraduate work and becoming a neurosurgeon. Grant told everyone that after reading Dr. Ben Carson's Book, "Gifted Hands", he knew that he wanted to be a neurosurgeon. Grant also spoke about his many hours of community service and his time spent as a Christian Summer Camp Counselor as well as a number of other accomplishments.

After Grant Ebel was awarded his scholarship, Christian Collins spoke to the membership about his new project called "Texas Youth Summit" where he wants to educate young Americans about the true history of this great nation and warn them about the dangers of socialism and communism. Christian noted that many of our founding fathers were in their twenties and that a dozen signers of the Constitution of the US were under 35 years old. The point was that you do not have to be very old to make a difference in the world for good.

Christian then told everyone that his dad was a pastor and after he found the Lord Jesus Christ, he decided to also become a pastor. However, his dad and other friends advised him that he may be more effective in the political arena so he worked with Greg Abbot and Ted Cruz campaigns and later for Kevin Brady. Kevin is now retiring, so Christian decided to merge his interests in theology and politics by starting the "Texas Youth Summit" in order to help prevent this country from being overcome by socialism and communism.
