On 9/4/2018, Tana Ross (Economic Development Coordinator for the City of Magnolia Texas) provided the Magnolia Rotary Club membership an update of what the City of Magnolia, Texas has in its Economic Development outlook. Pictured above is Tana Ross.
 
Tana Ross told everyone that Magnolia, Texas, in relation to many cities around the area is a tiny rural town that covers about 5 square miles with a population around 2,000. However, the trading area around Magnolia has a population of around 140,000 people who have a median income of somewhere between $79,000 to $85,000. Tana then told everyone that she would give us a "State of the City Update".
 
Tana then went through many slides of what is happening in and around Magnolia, Texas from an economic standpoint:
 
  1. FM 1488 FM 149 Railroad Flyover Bridge - Completed in 2Q2018.
  2. Soft opening of Butler's Crossing - Completed February 2018.
  3. FM 1488 Flyover Dedication with Butler's Crossing Road Sign.
  4. SH 249 is currently under construction in Magnolia at FM 1488.
  5. SH 249 at FM 1488 and FM 1486.
  6. Widening of FM 1488 from Mostyn Manner to the FM1488 Flyover - Completed 2Q 2018.
  7. FM 1488 from SH 149 to Magnolia is projected to be widened into 2 lanes each way with a shoulder and a parkway vegetative barrier in the center.
  8. FM 1774 South to SH 249 Pinehurst widened to 4 lanes with a center turn lane - Estimated completion 1Q 2019.
  9. FM 1774 Railroad Flyover - Project began in December 2016 and is still in progress.
  10. FM 249 from Tomball to Grimes County - Project expected to start in 1Q 2020.
  11. Magnolia Relief Route (From SH 249 to FM 1486 to FM 1774 and south to FM 1488) - $10 Million dedicated by Montgomery County.
  12. FM 149 Utility Project.
  13. New businesses coming to Magnolia: Blue Iguana Taco House (open now), Dollar Tree, Legacy Air, Remodels by McDonald's and Burger King.
  14. Reynolds Reserve - 240 homes.
  15. Spur 149 Update - Mixed use.
  16. Halberdier Business Park - TBD.
  17. Buck Grass will remain but will have pad sites around it.
  18. Mill Creek Estates - 500+ homes.
  19. Magnolia Audubon - 3,300 acres to be developed; Project expected to begin late 2018.
  20. Magnolia Town Center - Mixed use by Meridian Investments.
  21. Magnolia Ridge - Initial sections built out; others starting up.
  22. Mustang Ridge - 240 Homes.
  23. Escondida Ranch - 150 residential acres; Projected to start in 2019.
  24. Magnolia Woods 2017 - 1500 homes.
  25. The Woodard Tract - 6000 acres.
  26. Crown Ranch - Still growing.
  27. Bluejack National - Doing very well and growing.
  28. High Meadow Estates - Still some growth but mostly built out.
  29. Glen Oaks - Began 2014; 548 Lots & Section 3 to bring 125 lots now.
  30. Magnolia Reserve at Karen Switch - 215 homes underway.
  31. 3000 Acre Mystery Area
  32. Woodhaven Estates close to Waller County Line - 564 homes/lots.
  33. Lone Star College - Magnolia Campus - Location is still TBD.
  34. HEB - Expected to start in 2019.
