Pollinator Project AwardThe Magnolia ISD recognized the Magnolia Rotary Club for its project to construct a Pollinator Garden at Magnolia High School earlier this year. Its purpose was no only provide for local pollinators but an outdoor laboratory for the district's science department's teachers and students. Educational materials for use by the science teachers and students was also provided.

Harmonie Grace FoundationAdriauna Davis discussed her personal experience and reason for starting the Harmonie Grace Foundation before reviewing national statistics related to the problems related to premature births. She also discussed the initiatives of the foundation and funding and other suppport needs. The organization is currently almost entirely self funded.

District Governor VisitDistrict Governor Demetress Harrell reviewed the district goals including an initiative focused on supporting pollinators. She also thanked us for our continued financial support of the Rotary International Foundation and noted that we had the highest per capita contribution in the district. She also handed out polio plus pins related to that campaign.

SJRA Flood Management Div Project UpdateBriana Gallagher with the SJRA Flood Management Division reviewed current projects of the division and answered questions regarding their role relative to the county in flood plain management.

Presentation By Lisa FenleyLisa Fenley, Director of The American Heart Association Montgomery County reviewed the status of heart disease in the US and Montgomery County as well as the major factors influencing it. The presentation also included actions the association is undertaking in Montgomery County and what we can do to mitigate risk.

Canopy Cancer Survivor ProgramMarcella reviewed the cancer survivorship at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center. She pointed out that the program is open to patients, no matter where they were treated, and for any kind of cancer. Services are available to both patient and care giver and supported by Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Medical Center and by philanthropic support through Memorial Hermann Foundation and Memorial Hermann In the Pink of Health. |
